JPO Recordings New Release Information

●Markevitch conducting "Pictures at an Exhibition" "Prelude and Death of Love" live performance in 1965
Release date: March 3rd (Monday) 【CD】 JPCD-1040 ¥1,500

A CD of recordings of the early Japan Philharmonic Orchestra and its master conductor Igor Markevitch.
During his first visit to Japan in 1960, his performance of "The Rite of Spring" with the Japan Philharmonic left a lasting impression on audiences. During his second visit in 1965, he gave a month-long series of superb performances with the Japan Philharmonic. In 1968, he was appointed Honorary Conductor. The master conductor Markevitch and the Japan Philharmonic performed together five times, building a relationship of trust that continued for 20 years.
After 60 years, the record of this "masterful performance" in which the fledgling Japan Philharmonic responded to Markevitch's vivid colors and dynamic rhythms has been revived. [JPO Historical]
