The Charm of String Quartets: From Mozart to Tchaikovsky
400th Anniversary of the Japan Philharmonic Yokohama Regular Concert: Understanding Its Social and Cultural History
This year marks the 400th anniversary of the Japan Philharmonic's Yokohama Regular Concert. While listening to a string quartet performance by orchestra members, we will explore the origins of the string quartet, which is said to be the "most basic of orchestral instruments," and the appeal of each piece from a social and cultural perspective. We will also learn about the appeal of the Japan Philharmonic's Yokohama Regular Concert as it emerges in the context of music history. (Note: Instructor Komiya)
