"A symphony of "artists' dreams" interpreted from socio-cultural history'
From the 19th to the 20th century, musicians transformed from "musical craftsmen" to "artists who control music." Amid this environment, many works were born, embodied in various aspirations (and the anguish that came with them). This time, we will focus on two of these works, Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker" and Rachmaninoff's "Symphony No. 2," and explore their messages from the perspective of social and cultural history. We will also present the various musical devices embedded in these works, along with performances and interviews with Japan Philharmonic Clarinetist Yumeki Terunuma.
