[New Release] Mahler: Symphony No. 5 conducted by Kah-Chung Wong
Kah Chun Wong's long-awaited first CD is now on sale!
This is a live recording of the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra's regular performance held in December 2021.
Ka-Chun Wong is one of the most talked-about conductors today.
Originally from Singapore, he studied at the Hanns Eisler University of Music in Berlin, where he studied under Kurt Masur. He gained international recognition when he won the Gustav Mahler International Conducting Competition in 2016. He is currently serving as Principal Guest Conductor of the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, and is attracting increasing attention as he is set to assume the role of Principal Conductor from September next year (2023).
This album, which marks Kartjun's debut, features Mahler's Symphony No. 5. It was recorded live at the Japan Philharmonic's regular concert held at Suntory Hall in December 2021. The concert also marked Kartjun's debut as guest conductor of the Japan Philharmonic, and it captures the moment of "starting" that foreshadows a new future for Kartjun and the Japan Philharmonic, whose partnership will continue to deepen.
Look forward to an expressive performance of Mahler by the winner of the International Mahler Competition.
