[New Release Information] Stokowski's 1965 Live CD from "JPO Recordings" (Released March 4th)

This 20th-century master, known as the "Magician of the Orchestra," was also an accomplished arranger and was extremely well-known for his film appearances. At the age of 85, he was invited by the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra through his friendship with Akio Watanabe, and made his "first and last" visit to Japan. This CD is a recording of the orchestra's 1965 live performance at the Nippon Budokan, a major event in music history. The pieces included are "Toccata and Fugue" and Beethoven's "Fate." These two masterpieces, richly seasoned by Stokowski, evoke a sense of the era, and bring them back to life.
