A message from Principal Conductor Pietari Inkinen

Dear all,

　It is with deep sorrow that I must once again deliver this very disappointing news to you all. Due to the pandemic that continues to rage around the world, we are once again unable to meet. I need not tell you how much I have looked forward to coming to Japan. What a long absence! I was so excited to finally return to Japan and kick off our spring season with a performance of Strauss's Oboe Concerto, with our esteemed principal, Yukiko Sugihara, as soloist.
　Now that this is no longer possible, I can only hope that various countermeasures, such as the worldwide rollout of vaccinations, will be successful so that our plans for next May can be realized. My greatest wish is to be able to create music together with you all again. Until that day comes, I sincerely pray for your good health.

To my dear friends, the audience of the JPO,

It is with great sadness that I am yet again faced with the devastating news that we are prevented from seeing each other by the ongoing global pandemic situation. Needless to say, I was very much looking forward to finally making it to Japan after such a long absence. I was so looking forward to the commencement of the spring season, and to finally performing the Strauss Oboe Concerto with our own principal, Yukiko SUGIHARA.
I can only hope that all the different measures, alongside the vaccination roll-out world-wide, will soon have a significant impact and allow our next planned meeting to take place in May. It is my greatest wish to make music with you again. In the meantime, I send my warmest wishes and good health to all.
