A message from Principal Conductor Pietari Inkinen
Dear Japan Philharmonic Orchestra Customers,
Until recently, we all hoped that we would soon be able to perform concerts together as before, and that I myself would be able to return to Japan and perform with this wonderful Japan Philharmonic Orchestra. However, as you all know, the situation has not improved as much as we had hoped, and caution is increasing around the world, with various restrictions on going out and traveling. I am deeply disappointed that these restrictions mean that my visit to Japan in November will no longer be possible.
I hope that people all over the world will cooperate to endure these lockdowns and restrictions, successfully control the virus, and return to a joyful life as soon as possible, so that we can once again create live music together. I always look forward to performing with the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra. The mutual trust and deep understanding we have built up over the years brings the score to life.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your continued support of the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra. We hope to be able to meet you all again soon.
To my dear friends, the audience of the JPO,
A little while ago we all had such high hopes that it would be possible to have concerts together again soon and I would be back in Japan performing with the fabulous Japan Philharmonic Orchestra. But as you all know, things have not turned out as we had hoped and we are now, all over the world, in dancing alert with lockdowns and travel restrictions of various sorts everywhere. I am so sorry that the rules make it impossible for me to be with you next month. I hope that as we all struggle with these lockdowns and restrictions, we get this back virus under control so we can – hopefully soon - return to our joyous lives and make live music together again. I personally enjoy working with the JPO so much – we have developed a rapport and a depth of understanding which makes the score come alive for us all.
