The lineup for the 2027-2028 season's regular concerts has been announced!

The Japan Philharmonic Orchestra will celebrate its 70th anniversary in 2026. We are now embarking on a new journey for the next decade and towards our 100th anniversary.
The 2027-2028 season, the 71st year of the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, will bring together conductors with deep knowledge of the orchestra, world-renowned soloists, and artists making their debut in the regular concert series, creating a year where tradition and innovation resonate together. We invite you to experience it for yourself at our regular concerts.

Tokyo Subscription Concert

— A season of grand works depicting the "present" and "future" of the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra
Principal conductor Kahchun Wong and the Japan Philharmonic will symbolically present a commissioned work by the world-renowned young composer Yu Kuwahara, two Mahler works, Britten's "War Requiem," and Bruckner. The approach of this duo, whose performance of major works at the 70th anniversary concert is still fresh in our memories, is sure to reach even greater heights. Kenichiro Kobayashi will bring the traditional Sibelius to the pinnacle of maturity. Junichi Hirokami will open the concert, carrying on his own sound. Eiji Oue will play Italian music, and Ryusuke Numajiri will make his first appearance in nine years. Former Vienna Philharmonic player Christoph Koncz will make his debut, and François Leleux will pick up the oboe again. Kazuki Yamada's New Year's Concert will have a unique splendor. This will be a year in which you can experience a new era for the Japan Philharmonic.

— A season of new encounters and the resonance of diverse personalities
The Yokohama Concert Series is a season brimming with encounters with new talent. We will present a diverse range of music, including the debut of young conductor Ryuichiro Ikariyama, a colorful program themed around "America" by Eiji Oue and jazz maestro Junko Onishi, a collaboration between Tatsuya Shimono and solo cellist Daiki Kadowaki, and the fantastical "magic" world of Tomomi Nishimoto. Principal conductor Kahchun Wong will create new sounds with the debut of violinist Sergei Krylov and up-and-coming pianist Shiori Kuwahara. World-renowned cellist Jan Vogler will also make his debut with the Japan Philharmonic. From the passionate Bruch and Pastoral Symphony conducted by Conductor Laureate Kenichiro Kobayashi and Mayu Kijima, to the traditional year-end performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony by Tadaaki Otaka, and the grand finale by Junichi Hirokami, we will deliver a year filled with the unique friendliness and adventurous spirit of Yokohama.
