Announcement of soloists for the 368th Yokohama Regular Concert and the 392nd Masterpiece Concert in May
Mayuko Kamio (violin) has been selected as the soloist for the 368th Yokohama Regular Concert on May 21, 2021, and the 392nd Masterpiece Concert on May 23.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Mayuko Kamio for readily accepting our sudden request to appear on stage.
Kamio and Inkinen are students of the renowned violin teacher Zakhar Bron, and are outstanding musicians who respect each other.
Since winning the Tchaikovsky Competition in 2007, Kamio has become an increasingly prominent figure and is now shining as a leading figure in the violin world. Listen to what he has to say about his current state.

Mayuko Kamio ⒸMakoto Kamiya
He began playing the violin at the age of four. In 2007, he won first prize at the 13th International Tchaikovsky Competition, garnering worldwide attention. The New York Times praised him as "a captivating young performer" and "a brilliant talent." He has performed with major Japanese orchestras, as well as the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, the Russian National Philharmonic Orchestra, the Boston Pops Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Philharmonic, the Budapest Festival Orchestra, the Bavarian State Opera Orchestra, and the Warsaw National Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also collaborated with conductors such as Charles Dutoit, Mstislav Rostropovich, Eliahu Inbal, Vladimir Spivakov, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Jiří Bělohlávek, and Ivan Fischer. In recent years, he has toured South America with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra under Zubin Mehta and Israel with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under Ludovic Morlot. He has appeared at renowned festivals such as St. Moritz, Colmar, and Verbier. He has also given recitals in New York, Washington, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Frankfurt, and Milan. His recordings include "Paganini: 24 Caprices" and "Tchaikovsky: Violin Concerto" on the RCA Red Seal label, and in the fall of 2012, he released a CD titled "Romantic Sonatas," featuring works by Franck, Brahms, and Strauss.
He has studied under Satoya Chikako, Oguri Machie, Kudo Chihiro, Harada Koichiro, Dorothy DeLay, Kawasaki Masao, and Zakhar Bron. He plays a 1731 Stradivarius "Rubinoff" on loan from the Munetsugu Collection. He has received numerous awards, including the Osaka Prefectural Governor's Award, the Kyoto Prefectural Governor's Award, the 13th Idemitsu Music Award, the Commissioner for Cultural Affairs' Award, and the Hotel Okura Music Award.
