The long-awaited release of the historic 1965 live recording by master conductor Igor Markevitch and the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra.
Featuring Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition" (arranged by Ravel) and the Prelude and Liebesdeutsch from Wagner's "Tristan and Isolde." This is a valuable recording in which Markevitch's vibrant colors and dynamic rhythms blend beautifully with the passionate performance of the young Japan Philharmonic. In the 1960s, Markevitch performed with the Japan Philharmonic five times, later serving as their honorary conductor. This recording is a masterpiece selected from a month-long collaboration during his second visit to Japan. Six decades later, this moving performance is brought back to life for the modern age. As an important member of the JPO HISTORICAL series, this is a must-listen for classical music fans.
