Since assuming the position of Principal Conductor in 2008, Lazarev and the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra have been pursuing the "soul of Russia," making rapid advances in the Japanese music scene. In 2021, they finally tackled Shostakovich's masterpiece, Symphony No. 10. Maestro Lazarev, who knows Shostakovich inside and out, delivers a masterful performance, seamlessly portraying the profound symphony, where one mystery begets another. The "human emotion and passion" that Shostakovich sought to portray is brought to life with the clarity and roar of Lazarev and the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, bringing to life the same intense live performance. This decisive performance of Symphony No. 10 defies the limitations of the COVID-19 pandemic.
