Kotomi Igarashi's new piece, "Sakura Dawn (Ougyo) for Japan Philharmonic Orchestra," was written and premiered for the 723rd Tokyo Regular Concert (September 2020). This lyrical piece was created in a year when opportunities to enjoy cherry blossoms were diminished due to the COVID-9 pandemic, and it warmly resonated with the emotions of the audience at the time.
Shuko Mizuno's masterpiece, Symphony No. 4, was postponed due to the large ensemble required due to the COVID-9 pandemic, but was finally performed at the 733rd regular concert (September 2021).
As if tracing in his creative footsteps, the piece cleverly blends a variety of contemporary musical genres, providing listeners with a luxurious experience of enjoying the dynamic form of a "symphony" that is both old and new.
The selection of music is unique to Kazuki Yamada, who has a thirst for works by Japanese composers, and the Japanese aesthetic sense that is shared by two composers from different generations. This coupling allows you to feel the diverse charms of the orchestra.
*We have discovered a mix-up in the audio for the third movement of Symphony No. 4 by Shuko Mizuno. As a result, distribution was suspended on August 25, 2022, and we have taken steps to replace the audio. Distribution will resume on August 30 on mora, e-onkyo, and Recochoku.
