BACH:Toccata and Fugue in D Minor, BWV 565 (arr. L. Stokowski for orchestra)
Beethoven: Symphony No. 5 "Fate"
BEETHOVEN:Symphony No. 5 in C Minor, Op. 67
This 20th century master, known as the "Magician of the Orchestra," was an excellent arranger and extremely well-known for his film appearances. Through his friendship with Akio Watanabe, he was invited by the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra to visit Japan for the "first and last" time at the age of 85.
This CD is a recording by the band themselves of their 1965 live performance at the Nippon Budokan, a major event in music history.
The album includes two pieces: "Toccata and Fugue" and Beethoven's "Fate." These two masterpieces, rich in Stokowski's unique style, evoke the era.
*There may be some noise and unstable sound. Please note that this is due to the master.
