About the project
This experiential program opens a string quartet rehearsal to the public as a "creative space," allowing participants to share in the process of how a performance is born. The program was planned and designed by Japan Philharmonic violinist Shunichiro Sato. From a musician's unique perspective, he explores the appeal of chamber music and the creative process.
Chamber music is different from both orchestral and solo music in that it is "music-making through dialogue." Participants will be able to observe rehearsals up close, experiencing the communication between performers and the changes in sound in real time, while unraveling how musicians interpret the work and create resonance, allowing them to experience the process of how music is created in three dimensions.
In addition, participants will have the opportunity to talk with each other and with the performers. This program is not just about listening to music, but also about experiencing and thinking about the creative process.
The Japan Philharmonic sees this project as a "gateway" that connects the orchestra and the audience in a new way.
What is music? How is a performance created? How do musicians think and express themselves? By touching on the "inside" of these concepts, we aim to enrich your future concert experience and allow you to deeply experience the charm of the orchestra.
We look forward to your participation.
