413th Yokohama Subscription Concert

A special Ninth Symphony with a fresh sound

The December Yokohama Regular Concert will feature the annual "Ninth Symphony." This year, the acclaimed young conductor Daichi Deguchi will be performing. A graduate of the Tokyo College of Music, Deguchi was mentored by Junichi Hirokami, who holds the post of "Friend of the JPO" with the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, and even performed with the chorus in the orchestra's Ninth Symphony performance, making for an exceptionally good pairing. The first half of the concert will feature the overture from "Oberon," Weber's final opera, which laid the foundation for German opera. Deguchi's energetic baton, along with a lineup of today's fresh and exciting soloists, will bring a new level of charm to Beethoven's masterpiece, "Ninth Symphony."
