Highlights

The Japan Philharmonic Orchestra connects the sounds of ties and tradition

Conductor Yukio Fujioka was the last beloved student of Akio Watanabe, the "father of the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra." Sibelius was Watanabe's most beloved composer, and his DNA has been steadily passed down to Fujioka and the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra. Yoshimatsu's work is one of the pieces in the "Japan Philharmonic Series," commissioned and premiered by the orchestra in 1993, making it an irreplaceable treasure for the orchestra. Moreover, Yoshimatsu himself is a composer who deeply loves Sibelius. This concert, therefore, features a special program that brings together the diverse connections of the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra. And don't miss the heroic performance of young principal trombonist Yuta Ito, a symbol of the future of the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra!

<Yuta Ito>

At the Yokohama regular concert in October, I will be attempting Yoshimatsu Takashi's Trombone Concerto "Orion Machine" for the first time.
It is a very difficult piece, but the quiet scenes are particularly beautiful, and I will perform it with all my heart so that you can fully feel the mysterious atmosphere that emanates from them.
There is some improvisation in the song, so be sure to pay attention to that as well!
