Tomoki Yamada
YAMADA Tomoki
Born in Miharu, Fukushima Prefecture. Graduated from the Department of Instrumental Music, Faculty of Music, Tokyo University of the Arts. Studied cello under Masaharu Kanaya, the late Yasushi Horie, Toshiaki Hayashi, and Peter Wolf. Studied chamber music under Toshiyuki Usatsuka, Kazuki Sawa, Kiyoshi Okayama, and Katsumi Ueda. Received the Encouragement Award at the 2nd Sapporo Junior Cello Competition. Joined the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra in 1996. Since 2003, he has studied at the Darmstadt Music Academy in Germany as a trainee for emerging artists sponsored by the Agency for Cultural Affairs. He has served as vice principal cellist and is active as a soloist and in chamber music.
