First Violin

One of my favorite songs Max Bruch: Scottish Fantasy

I especially like the overture in this song.
A deep, warm orchestral piece in E-flat minor (six flats!) with a beautiful, ephemeral yet luminous solo violin melody.
During my recent European tour, I saw the Scottish architecture for the first time and was simply overwhelmed by its grandeur. I felt like I was a little closer to this song.
When he wrote this song, Bruch had never visited Scotland.
Nevertheless, the Scottish folk songs scattered throughout the album are sweet, sad, and melodious, captivating the Scotland that Bruch envisioned.
The long official title is "Fantasia for violin with orchestra and harp, making free use of Scottish folk melodies."
As the title suggests, the harp plays a big role!
