| What made you start playing an instrument? | My parents were members of a local orchestra, and they would take me to practice sessions from the time I was born, where I said, "I want to play the violin that Mr. So-and-so's mother plays!" (Actually, the instrument was a viola, and at the time there was no distinction between it and a violin.) |

| What is important in a performance | An orchestra cannot function with just one person, so I always value the awareness that we are creating music together. |
| One of my favorite songs | Szymanowski: Nocturne and Tarantella, Op. 28
This work for violin and piano was composed between spring and summer 1915. "Nocturne" begins with a parallel fifth chord melody played on muted violin, and "Tarantella" is a passionate and technical dance piece in 6/8 time. I feel that Szymanowski's unique exotic and mystical style is condensed into this approximately 10-minute piece. When I first played this piece as a high school student, I found it technically difficult, but as I practiced it over and over, I was drawn to its charm and it has now become one of my favorite pieces. It's a fascinating and cool piece, and I hope many people will listen to it! |
