Mari Adachi
ADACHI Mari
Graduated from Toho Gakuen School of Music. After graduating from the Chamber Music Department of the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, he completed the Master's program (with the highest marks) at the Conservatoire de Lausanne and the Master's program for soloists at the same institution. Since 2013, he has served as associate principal viola with the Innsbruck Symphony Orchestra and has guest-performed as principal viola with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra. Since 2021, he has been guest-performed as principal viola with the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra. He is also active as a soloist and chamber musician, and has made numerous recordings.
| What made you start playing an instrument? | She was inspired by her beloved Minnie Mouse playing the violin at the Mickey Mouse Revue attraction at Disneyland, and began learning the violin. |

| What is important in a performance | With that in mind, I cherish the awareness that the time of those who listen to me is precious, as that performance may be the first musical experience a particular audience member will ever have, or it may be the last concert they will ever see. |
| One of my favorite songs | Ernest Bloch: Suite for Viola and Orchestra
This piece was born from Bloch's imagination of the Far Eastern countries he had never visited. The four movements were originally titled "In the Jungle," "Grotesque," "Nocturne," and "Land of the Sun," and unfold a mysterious and alluring musical world filled with exotic atmosphere. It is a work I love, as it really stimulates the imagination. I have performed the piano version many times, but I would like to one day perform it surrounded by the vibrant colors of an orchestra! |
